Detailed Description

The QTS quartz tungsten heater is part of Ceramicx’s short-wave infrared technology line and is especially suitable for industrial applications where speed and temperature precision are critical — such as drying, preheating, or thermoforming.
This heater emits in the 1.6–1.9 micron wavelength range, making it highly efficient for infrared heat transfer.
It features a standard R7s termination, allowing easy installation in most industrial sockets. The 10 mm quartz glass tube ensures long-lasting, reliable operation, while the tungsten filament delivers coil temperatures around 1450 °C.
Custom configurations are available upon request, including different power ratings, voltages, and lengths.

Installation, Handling and Safety Information

• The halogen/tungsten heater consists of a sealed quartz glass tube. Like all glass products, it must be handled with care. Excessive mechanical or physical force during installation or handling can damage or break the tube. Broken glass may pose a hazard to both personnel and the heating process.
  
  
• Always wear gloves when handling the heater. Fingerprints can affect the optical performance of the quartz and reduce the operating life. Clean any dirt, oil, or lint using alcohol and a lint-free cloth or tissue.
  
  

• Ensure that the heater is not exposed to vibration during operation, as it will reduce the heater's lifespan.
  
  
• Always disconnect the power supply before inserting, removing, or cleaning the heater.
  
  
• The heater should only be installed by qualified personnel in accordance with all relevant electrical safety standards.
  
  
• The heater must be connected to an electrical supply that matches its rated voltage. Excessive voltage will shorten its lifespan.
  
  
• Heaters should be installed in approved fixtures specifically designed for halogen/tungsten heaters.
  
  
• Only operate the heater in a horizontal position, unless clearly specified for vertical use.
  
  
• Ensure heaters are not radiating directly onto each other, as this can increase their temperature and reduce life expectancy.
  
  

• Halogen/tungsten heaters are high-intensity infrared heaters. Take precautions to prevent any direct contact with the heater during operation and maintain a safe distance to avoid burns from radiant heat.
  
  
• These heaters emit bright white light that may be harmful to human eyes. Personnel must not look directly at the heater when in use. If necessary, use glare-reducing filters or protective eyewear and install warning signs in the area.
  
  
• The temperature of the glass tube may exceed 600 °C. Ensure the working environment is free from flammable or explosive gases that could ignite on contact with the hot surface.
  
  
• Never allow the tube temperature to exceed 800 °C.
  
  
• The flattened pinch seal section at each end of the heater should not be exposed to temperatures above 350 °C. Higher temperatures may cause gas leakage and reduce heater life.
  
  

• When started from cold (room temperature), halogen/tungsten heaters can draw more than 10 times their normal operating current. Ensure fuses or protective devices are rated appropriately to handle this inrush current.
  
  

• Always ensure heaters are operated at a safe distance from any combustible materials.
