Manufactured by Ceramicx, the QTS model is a shortwave linear quartz infrared heater that emits energy in the 1.6–1.9 μm range — the optimal spectrum for industrial heat transfer. The heating element consists of a Ø10 mm quartz glass tube housing a high-temperature tungsten filament. Thanks to its rapid thermal response, the QTS heater is particularly suitable for applications where fast heating is essential, such as in plastics processing, drying, or preheating operations.
The industry-standard R7s termination enables secure and stable mounting as well as easy electrical connection. The heater operates at 240 V with 1000 W power output, and its lifespan can reach up to 5,000 hours under optimal conditions.
Custom versions are available upon request, including different lengths, power ratings, or voltages.

Installation, Handling and Safety Information

  • The body of the halogen/tungsten heater is a sealed quartz glass tube. Like all glass products, these heaters should be handled with care. Excessive mechanical or physical force during handling or installation could break or damage the glass tube. Broken glass may be hazardous to personnel and also to the heating process.

  • Ensure the heater is not exposed to vibration during operation, as this will reduce the operating life of the heater.

  • Gloves should be worn while handling the heater. Fingerprints can affect the optical properties of the glass tube and may reduce the operating life of the heater. Clean any dirt, oil, or lint from the heater with alcohol and a lint-free cloth or tissue.

  • Always turn off the electrical power before inserting, removing, or cleaning the heater.

  • Halogen/tungsten heaters are high-intensity infrared heaters. Care should be taken to ensure that personnel cannot touch the heater during operation, and that a safe distance from the heater is always maintained to prevent burns due to radiant heat output.

  • Halogen heaters can produce high-intensity white light, which may damage human eyes. Personnel should not look directly at the heaters during operation. If necessary, install a glare-reducing filter or provide protective glasses. Appropriate warning signage should be used to inform personnel of the risk.

  • The temperature of the glass tube may exceed 600 °C. As with all high-temperature heat sources, ensure the operating environment is free from potentially explosive gases that could ignite upon contact with the hot glass surface. The operator is responsible for confirming the heater is suitable for their specific application.

  • Ensure the temperature of the glass tube does not exceed 800 °C.

  • Do not allow heaters to radiate directly onto nearby heaters, as this increases their temperature and reduces operating life.

  • The heater should be installed by a qualified person who adheres to all relevant electrical safety standards.

  • Make sure the heater is connected to an electrical supply that matches its rated voltage. Overvoltage will shorten the heater’s operating life.

  • The heater is designed for horizontal operation only, unless explicitly specified for vertical use.

  • The pinch seal section of the heater (the flattened glass ends) should not be exposed to temperatures above 350 °C. Higher temperatures may cause gas leakage and reduce the heater’s lifespan.

  • Halogen/tungsten heaters can draw more than 10 times the normal operating current when switched on from a cold (room temperature) state. Ensure that fuses or protective devices are correctly rated for these inrush currents.

  • Use the heaters only in approved fixtures designed for halogen/tungsten heaters.

  • Ensure the heaters are operated at a safe distance from combustible materials.
